California Missions

The 22 Spanish era missions are a significant part of California’s early history.

Lisa and I have visited and revisited all of them to experience and photograph each one’s unique characteristics.   All of my early work was with traditional black and white film and final darkroom printing.  In recent visits I have found a way to better portray the feelings to be found within the walls with digital techniques that give a faded palette reminiscent of their long history.

Please also visit Lisa’s site to see her solar etchings from these same locations.
